USAID is pressing the University to raise more private donations and rely less on public funding. They seem to be hanging in there.
The old high school building was renovated by the Azizi Hotak Group and is now called the Azizi Building.
The three story building in the middle of the old football field was renovated by the Bayat Foundation and is called the Bayat Building.
The snow shelter where the school buses used to park has been enclosed and converted to a cafeteria. The elementary building is in the process of being renovated.
The old cracker-box gym is going to be a new library. Jung’s old classroom is a computer lab. The adjacent room is being used as a library.
Our old library is being used to store textbooks. Renovation of the “new” 1975 gym is just beginning.
I took a picture looking south over the back wall. The school for the blind is in the foreground and the Cure Hospital is just behind it.
Cure Hospital is located approximately where the Noor Eye Clinic used to be. It is run by the same people. You can see the remains of Darulaman Palace in the background.
