Happy New Year!

O. Jon Afredi ('65-'73) sent in the following pictures from his trip back to Kabul in April 1998:

• (above) Darulaman Palace riddled with holes and minus the beautiful garden
• The Residence Palace above the big Darulaman Palace
• Darulaman Palace from Jon's house in Kabul
• The mighty Kabul River still flows with its might
• The Park Cinema in Shara Nau
• New Buildings above the Kabul Airport - (these buildings were still in very good shape)
• Midway between Kabul and Jalabad, Sarobe Dam area
• The road between Kabul and Jalalabad - (now it takes 6.5 hours to travel between the two cities)
• The Intercontinental Hotel - (now it is a Government Guest House)
• Habibia High School - (still in pretty good shape)
• Majority of the structures are in this shape
