REUNIONS

Lashkar-Gah Reunion, June 23-24, Chicago: Betty Odle Nordby is the organizer for this reunion.

The Lashkar-Gah reunion will be held June 23-24 in Chicago at the Raphael Hotel. It is for the families that lived in Lashkar-Gah from the middle to the late 50's. However, some of the families living there during those years did remain and had friends from the later years whom they want to attend.

AISK & Old Hands, August 19-20, Berkeley: You are cordially invited to participate in the Millennial AISK Scorpion Reunion August 19 and 20, 2000 in Berkeley, California; just a stones' throw away from San Francisco. This announcement includes a schedule of events, list of places to stay, and a registration form. The schedule of events includes:

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18: Early registration from 6:30 to 9:30 at the Claremont Hotel and mingling with a no-host bar.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 19: Afghan Bazaar picnic in Tilden Park with real Afghan food and live Afghan music. Afghan vendors will be selling their wares, so be prepared to buy real memorabilia from Afghanistan. The picnic site is a short walk from Lake Anza with a sandy beach and lifeguards.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 20: Dinner dance with our own Scorpion jam session and discs spun by Chris Hilario between sets.

The cost is $125 per person for early registration before July 20; $150 per person after July 20; and $180 per person after August 12.

The special room rate at the Claremont Hotel is $195 per night (Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday), single or double occupancy. Parking is free for those staying at the Claremont; for people staying elsewhere, parking is $11 for valet and $7 for self-parking. Call 1-800-551-7266 and say you are reserving a room for the AISK Scorpion Reunion. If at all possible, reserve your room by July 1.

Life will be easier for those staying at the Claremont because it is where all the action is and it is a fabulous historic hotel. For those on a budget, here are a few suggested places to stay.
