to our Yearbooks archived in the
Library.
Thanks to Barbara (Lewis) Marcum '60-'61 for loaning her copy of the
'61 Scorpion and sharing it with all of us.

It opened in September 1959 with 16 students registered.
The first graduating class ('60) included Carol Okerlund, Jim Moncur and
John Sanger.

GET TOGETHER FOR MARY MACMAKIN
Eleanor (Suzie) MacMakin '72 held a get together for her famous mother,
Mary MacMakin at her Fairfield, California home on Sunday, April 28.
Several Scorpions were in attendance. Click on the photo above to see

BUZKASHI CONTEST
Harry Alexander '71-'73 submitted the following program for a
1971 Buzkashi Contest
held "on the occasion of the 57th birthday anniversary of
His Majesty the King" of Afghanistan.
The program contains "general information concerning the game as it is
played today." A diagram of the playing field is also included.
Harry also submitted 8 photos including the one on the left.

WASHINGTON, DC SYMPOSIUM
Gary Bowersox, the well-respected Afghan/Pamir
Gemologist and Explorer, will be showing the film
"The Gem Hunter in Afghanistan" at
the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History
at noon on May 17th. The program is open to the public.

The lucky man posing with both of them is no other than
Van "Peepers" Auburn '66.

Mary Muro '55-'59 writes:
I attended the school when it was
still called the "International
Children's Center." We lived close to
the school in Sharinau. My father,
Osamu Muro, worked for the United
Nations. My experiences in Kabul are
detailed in the preface to my
book, "Intercultural Miscommunication."
