IN MEMORY OF CHARLIE BENNETT
Charlie Bennett really was quite a remarkable man, and one of his life's passions was to make sure that as many Afghans as possible could legally make it out of Afghanistan and out of the refugee camps in Pakistan.
He made numerous trips to the camps and walked mile after mile through the misery so that he could find "his" people and their families and begin the reams of paperwork to get them immigrant status.
At the service for him on the 10th, one of the Afghan men gave deep apologies that he couldn't stay afterward in the fellowship room to visit... he had left his wife, who was in labor with their first child, in Seattle! He had to get back for the birth of his firstborn, but Mr. Bennett had helped both of them get out of the camps and he needed to be with the Bennett family in Belfair so that he could pay their respects to Mr. Bennett.
Maggi writes:
*Funny, I knew that Dad made many trips back to that area, but I had no idea that he had made it possible for - literally - thousands to come here."

Correction:
August's
Mystery Scorpions were Julie Reilly, Ken Rau, Paul
Kelly and KC Clark - according to Wafa Abdalla. Here's another
angle of the same group of Scorpions.
